Why is my Word document not showing spelling errors?

Click the File tab to go to Backstage view, then click Options. A dialog box will appear. On the left side of the dialog box, select Proofing. Check the box next to Hide spelling errors in this document only and Hide grammar errors in this document only, then click OK.

Considering this, how do you turn on spell check in Word?

Word 2010 and later versions
  1. Click the File tab, and then click Options.
  2. Click Proofing.
  3. Click to clear the Check spelling as you type check box.
  4. Click to clear the Mark grammar errors as you type check box.

Where is spell check?

To run a spelling and grammar check:
  1. Go to the Review tab.
  2. Click on the Spelling & Grammar command. The Spelling & Grammar command.
  3. The Spelling and Grammar dialog box will open.
  4. If no suggestions are given, you can manually type the correct spelling.
