Why does Limewater turns milky when co2 is passed into it?

When Calcium oxide react with water it form Calcium hydroxide which in saturated solution called as slaked lime. When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water it turns milky due to the formation of water insoluble precipitate CaCO3. Still if excess of CO2 is passed it forms water soluble Calcium bicarbonate .

Thereof, why does lime water turn milky with carbon dioxide?

So the solution turns milky.when we pass excess Co2 ,calcium bicarbonate Ca(HCO)3 formed which is soluble in water, So the solution turns transparent. When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water it turns milky due to the formation of water insoluble precipitate CaCO3. Thus the solution remains clear.

Which reaction produces gas that turns lime water milky?

A positive test will result in the lime water turning milky. Lime water turns milky as the Calcium hydroxide (chemical name for limewater) reacts with carbon dioxide to form Calcium Carbonate which is insoluble in water and thus forms a milky white precipitate.
