Why did the United States decide to declare independence from Great Britain?

The American colonies chose to declare independence from Great Britain for many reasons. They believed the British were treating the colonists unfairly. The British passed many tax laws that impacted the colonists. The colonists had no representatives in Parliament to vote on or discuss these laws.

How did we gain independence?

Due to disaffection with British colonial rule, the 13 British colonies that make up most of the current eastern coast of the United States rebelled against British rule in 1775 and then declared their independence on 4 July 1776. The 1783 Treaty of Paris brought formal British recognition of the USA.

Results of the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War happened when the 13 British colonies wanted independance from British rule. They finally got it, when the British surrendered on April 11th, 1783. After the war, there were some big changes on both sides.
