Sunnis are the more dominant form of Islam – at least 80 per cent of Muslims worldwide. Some Sunni dominated countries include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Syria (see more on Syria, below). However, Shia Muslims are the majority in some other countries such as Iran, Iraq, and more recently, Lebanon.
Simply so, is Egypt Sunni or Shia?
According to research by Michael Izady 86.8% of Egyptians are Sunni Muslim, 10.2% are Christian, 2.9% are Shia and the remaining 0.1% belong to other faiths. The vast majority of Muslims in Egypt are Sunni. A significant number of Sunni Muslim Egyptians also follow native Sufi orders.
Is Qatar majority Sunni or Shia?
