Where is black soil?

Generally, black soil is found in the central, western and southern states of India. According Britannica, black soil is found 28 Indian states including: isolated parts of Ghat, the Malabar Coastal plains, Ratnagiri of Maharashtra and certain regions of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Meghalaya and West Bengal.

What are the contents of black soil?

Black soil in India is rich in metals such as Iron, Magnesium and Aluminum. However it is deficient in Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorous and Humus. Black soil is of red colour mainly due to its iron oxide content.
