A repeal of the last Texas blue law, passed in 1961, was signed in May by Gov. Mark White. The law prohibited the sale of 42 categories of items on consecutive weekend days, effectively forcing many stores to close on Sundays because it meant that department stores, for example, were unable to open many sections.

Blue laws in the United States. Blue laws in the United States vary by state. Blue laws are laws designed to enforce religious standards. Many states prohibit selling alcoholic beverages for on- and off-premises sales in one form or another on Sundays at some restricted time.
For someone under 18 to buy alcohol, attempt to buy alcohol or to be sold alcohol. For someone under 18 to drink alcohol in licensed premises, except where the child is 16 or 17 years old and accompanied by an adult. In this case it is legal for them to drink, but not buy, beer, wine and cider with a table meal.
If children do drink alcohol, they shouldn't do so until they're at least 15 years old. If 15-17 year olds drink alcohol, they should never exceed the recommended adult weekly limit (14 units of alcohol). One unit of alcohol is about half a pint of normal-strength beer or a single measure (25ml) of spirits.
Young people aged 16 or 17 can drink beer, wine or cider with a meal if it is bought by an adult and they are accompanied by an adult. It is illegal for this age group to drink spirits in pubs even with a meal. It is illegal for people under 18 to buy alcohol in a pub, off-licence, shop or elsewhere.
All passengers must be 21 years old to drink alcohol, with the exception of Europe and South America cruises if parents cruising with their children sign a waiver allowing their 18 to 20 year olds consume alcohol. Passengers must be 18 to gamble in the casino (and 21 on Alaska cruises).

The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18). The minimum age to consume alcohol at all private destinations remains twenty-one (21) without regard to where the sailing originated.
The following cruise lines require that either 1) All passengers in a cabin must be 21 or older, or 2) If anyone in the cabin is younger than 21 years old, someone in the cabin must be 25 or older: Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, and Windstar Cruises.
The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on Norwegian Cruise Line ships is 21. Guests who are 18 - 20 years of age can purchase and consume beer or wine when the ship is in international waters (3 miles out of US territorial waters). The age modification does not apply for Alaska and Hawaii sailings.
The specific changes prohibit smoking on stateroom balconies and limit smoking in the casino to players. On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas. Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free.
Where You Can Smoke: Smoking is permitted in designated spaces on the open decks, on private balconies and in the Cigar Bar. Passengers may smoke e-cigarettes only in cabins and in the Cigar Bar. Where You Can't: All public rooms are nonsmoking. Smoking in cabins is also prohibited.
Cruise Log. Carnival Cruise Lines will ban smoking on cabin balconies beginning this fall. Smoking already is prohibited in all staterooms. Cigarette and E-cigarette smoking still will be allowed in designated open deck areas as well as in the nightclub and certain areas within the casino and casino bar.
Which Cruise Ships Can You Smoke On?
- Azamara Club Cruises. On all its ships, Azamara's dedicated smoking area (including e-cigarettes) is clearly marked at the starboard forward section of the pool deck.
- Carnival Cruise Line.
- Celebrity Cruises.
- Cunard Line.
- Holland America Line.
- Marella Cruises.
- MSC Cruises.
- Norwegian Cruise Line.
Smoking onboard Royal Caribbean ships is also banned in all public areas except for the Casino, the Connoisseur Club on select ships and on the starboard side of all ships' outer decks. Of the larger lines, just Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Line allow smoking on balconies.
Effective November 15, passengers no longer may smoke on cabin balconies; this includes electronic cigarettes. Smoking still will be permitted in designated outside areas including parts of decks, 4, 9 and 10 on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder and decks 4, 12 and 13 on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
Can you smoke onboard Royal Caribbean International ships - Royal Caribbean International A: The smoking policy is the same on Quantum of the Seas as it is on all other Royal Caribbean ships. Guests are allowed to smoke cigarettes and cigars in designated areas of the ship.
Celebrity Cruises Smoking Policy. Therefore, Celebrity Cruises' Smoking Policy permits cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor.
Inflight smoking is prohibited by almost all airlines. Smoking on domestic U.S. airliners, for instance, was banned on all domestic flights with a duration of two hours or less beginning in 1988, with all planes being smoke-free by the end of the 1990s.
The federal government prohibits smoking on all U.S. airline flights arriving in or departing from the United States . 49 U.S.C.A. § 41706 (a) (2005). Civil fines for smoking on an airline flight range from $2,200 for smoking in an airplane seat or cabin to $3,300 for smoking in an airplane lavatory.
