When something is more dense?

Students should realize that if an object weighs more than an equal volume of water, it is more dense and will sink, and if it weighs less than an equal volume of water, it is less dense and will float. Remember that the density of water is about 1 g/cm3. Predict whether the following objects will sink or float.

Similarly, you may ask, what does it mean for a person to be dense?

When fog is dense, you can't see through it. And if someone calls you dense, they think nothing can get into your thick skull. Dense comes from the Latin densus which means thick and cloudy. In general, the word means packed tight and gives the sense that something is difficult to get through.

What does it mean to have a higher density?

Density describes how compact or concentrated something is. For example, suppose you have two boxes, one large and one small. However, they both weigh the same. That means the small box has a higher density than the large box. Density also tells how concentrated or crowded something is.
