The answer: Vitamin B12 is found naturally only in animal foods including meat, chicken, fish, eggs and dairy. If it's only red meat you avoid – or red meat and poultry – you can still get B12 by drinking milk and eating yogurt and eggs. As a comparison, three ounces of lean beef has 2.8 mcg of vitamin B12.
Milk and yogurt may increase vitamin B12 intake. Dairy products, including yogurt, are an excellent source of vitamin B12 and daily intake can help to meet the recommendation of 3.0 µg in order to prevent vitamin B12 deficiency, which is associated with serious health problems.

Vitamin B12 is abundant in meat sources but can also be found in some grains. Vegetables are not a good source of vitamin B12, as plants cannot produce this nutrient on their own. However, vegetarians can obtain the RDA by eating fortified vegetarian foods and supplements.

Eat fortified foods two or three times a day to get at least three micrograms (mcg or µg) of B12 a day. OR Take one B12 supplement daily providing at least 10 micrograms. OR Take a weekly B12 supplement providing at least 2000 micrograms.
The same amount of pork roast contains 0.80 micrograms of vitamin B12, and 3.5 ounces of ham supplies 0.72 micrograms. A 3.5-ounce serving of bacon contains the most vitamin B12 with 1.23 micrograms, or 51 percent of the amount you need each day.
