What type of mud to use for knockdown texture?
Regular drywall joint compound, or mud, is generally used to create the knockdown texture. You can use the premixed variety or mix your own. Either way, you must be able to spray the mixture with the hopper gun, so it should be about the consistency of pancake batter or thick paint.
Knockdown Texture is a drywall finishing style. It is a mottled texture, more intense than a simple flat finish, but less intense than orange peel, or popcorn, texture.
- After the ban, popcorn ceiling materials were created using a paper-based or Styrofoam product to create the texture, rather than asbestos. Textured ceilings remain common in residential construction in the United States.
- Put the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner and gently run it over the ceiling. This will remove dirt and cobwebs. You can also use a feather duster to clean the ceiling, but it your ceiling is very dirty, the vacuum is the better choice. Cooking grease and cigarette smoke can stain popcorn ceilings.

- Look for a commercial cleaning product.
The recommended air pressure from your compressor should be 60 psi (2.5 cfm) for Orange Peel, 30 psi for Knockdown, with a minimum 100 psi compressor. You can adjust the air to your liking as you become more familiar with the gun. *When shooting ceilings, you may want to increase the psi slightly.

- Patch Orange Peel Wall Texture. Orange Peel and Splatter textures are commonly used to finish interior wall surfaces and hide taped drywall seams along with other imperfections. At the same time these subtle textures transform flat walls into a finish that reflects light and adds interest to any room.
- Yes; if you have been smoking for quite sometime, there are many signs which an observant dentist may notice. Eg- tobacco stains on your teeth, whitish discolourations on your cheeks, palate, lips, gums, mouth odour etc.. Most of these symptoms take weeks to months or even years to subside. Yes, a dentist can tell.
Drying Times. Joint compound should generally be allowed to dry for 24 hours between coats and before sanding, painting or priming. High humidity levels and warm temperatures both increase drying times, however.
- Use an 8- or 10-inch broad knife for this. Apply a heavy coat of spackle over the tape, filling the depression between the drywall. Long joints will commonly require three coats. The first coat is the heaviest and uses the most spackle.
- What is the curing time for pipe joint compound? Under normal pressures the pipe joint compounds does not need a curing time. If the pressure in the lines is 125psi or higher, the recommended cure time is 4 hours before initiating pressure. Call Oatey Customer Service when in doubt.
- Most latex primers dry to the touch within 30 minutes to 1 hour. But do not paint the wall until the primer dries thoroughly, which can take up to 3 hours. High humidity and cool temperatures prolongs drying times.
