What Colour is Gold?
- Warm highlights: white with a dab of burnt sienna.
- Cool highlights: white with a dab of ultramarine and burnt umber.
- Warm mid-tones: burnt sienna, a little cadmium red and white.
- Cool mid-tones: burnt umber, a little ultramarine and white.
- Warm darks: burnt sienna and ultramarine.
Create the color gold by mixing 100 parts yellow, 3 parts magenta and 1 part blue. Gold is commonly represented in art by the color yellow or by the color with a bit of orange or brown mixed in.
- Add a very small amount of red to the yellow icing and mix until combined -- if you dip a toothpick 1 inch deep in yellow food coloring gel, dip only the tip of a toothpick in the red food coloring gel. Add a trace amount of green food coloring gel, if desired, to give the gold color an aged look.

If I only had primary colors, I would make an orange color by mixing red and yellow and then adding a very small amount of blue incrementally. If I had black I would use that instead probably. If I could buy the paint color, raw sienna is a good golden brown color, if you're talking about oils or acrylics for example.
- To mix a brown you mix a primary with its complementary color, so purple and yellow; blue and orange; or red and green. There is a diverse amount of Brown in nature. This color can be mixed with any other color.

- So the short answer is that equal parts red and violet make maroon, and you can adjust the ratio of red and violet to get the specific color you want. Of course it can be broken down further. Let's assume you're talking about paint and you're using red, blue and yellow as your primary colors.
