What is the purpose of the Diet Coke and Mentos experiment?
Purpose: To demonstrate an almost explosive phase change from dissolved CO2 to gaseous CO2. Summary: A Mentos dropped into Diet Coke will cause the CO2 in the soda to rapidly form gaseous bubbles resulting in an explosion.
After a lot of debate, scientists are now saying that the primary cause of Coke & Mentos geysers is a physical reaction, not a chemical reaction. Their explanation is this process called nucleation. All the carbon dioxide in the soda – all that fizz – is squeezed into the liquid and looking for a way out.
- Ingredients Nutrition
- 1 tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap.
- 3 drops red food coloring.
- 1 cup vinegar.
- 1 1⁄2 cups warm water.
- 2 tablespoons baking soda.
- Since ketchup has vinegar (a dilute acetic acid), which reacts with baking soda (a base), this is an acid-base reaction experiment. When you mix baking soda with the dilute acetic acid in ketchup, carbon dioxide gas is produced. This is what will make the bubbles rise and fizz steadily to the top of the volcano.
- 2)Magma pushes toward Earth's SURFACE through CRACKS. 3)Hot LAVA, gases, and ROCK flow from the volcano. 4)Lava COOLS, hardens, and becomes part of the LAND. A volcano erupts when pressure pushes molten rock up through cracks in Earth's crust onto the surface.Volcanoes change Earth's surface.
The Mentos Trick. All you do is drop a tube of Mentos candies into a bottle of soda. Usually, the trick is done using diet soda, especially Diet Coke or another cola, however, the main reason for this is because diet drinks are less sticky/easier to clean up than other sodas.
- Club soda, seltzer (sparkling water), and sparkling mineral water all have bubbles of carbon dioxide gas suspended within their liquidy matrices, but it's their other additives that define them. Seltzer (Sparkling Water): Seltzer is just plain water that has been carbonated, but is (usually) lacking in minerals.
- With just 100 calories and 2 grams of carbs per serving, Truly Spiked & Sparkling (5%ABV) is crafted with simple, naturally gluten-free ingredients and contains alcohol made from cane sugar. It is available in three delicious styles: Colima Lime, Grapefruit & Pomelo, and Pomegranate.
- Benefits of Mineral Water. Pregnant woman are advised to drink about 12 cups of fluid per day. Finally, some pregnant woman report relief of nausea and vomiting through carbonated beverages and mineral water, which contain those fizzy bubbles you may be craving.
