Normal Aging. The changes aging individuals experience are not necessarily harmful. With age, hair thins and turns gray. Skin thins, becomes less elastic, and sags. There is a slowing down of functions which goes forward throughout adulthood – loss of function of bodily organs.

How does aging work? The human body goes through a variety of changes as it gets older. In general, muscles, blood vessels and other tissues lose their elasticity. The heart becomes less efficient, bones become weaker and the metabolism slows down.

What are the signs and symptoms of aging?

Some common signs and symptoms of aging include:
  • Increased susceptibility to infection.
  • Greater risk of heat stroke or hypothermia.
  • Slight decrease in height as the bones of our spines get thinner and lose some height.
  • Bones break more easily.
  • Joint changes, ranging from minor stiffness to severe arthritis.
  • Stooped posture.
