What is the main conflict of the Cask of Amontillado?

The main conflict in the story is between Montresor and Fortunato. Montresor, our narrator, believes that Fortunato has "inflicted a thousand insults," upon him. It is because of these "insults", which are not named in the story, that Montresor begins to execute his plot for revenge.

Likewise, who is the main character of the cask of Amontillado?

What kind of person is Montresor?

Montresor is a man obsessed with revenge. He also seems to be rather insecure and sensitive, especially about his family background. For example, he says his reason for killing Fortunato is that Fortunato insulted him.

What kind of narrator is Montresor?

First Person (Central Narrator) Montresor is our vile narrator. He is dedicated to his own point of view, which is cold, merciless, brutal, conniving, and vengeful. He doesn't mind telling us about his torture and murder of Fortunato; indeed, he thinks what he did was the just, right way to handle the situation.
