What is the difference between our and ours?

Ours is the first person plural possessive pronoun – it replaces “our” + noun. For example, the sentence: Is this our room? Can be changed to: Is this ours? When using “ours” there is no need to repeat the object you are talking about (or refer to it if the context allows).

Likewise, people ask, what is the difference between my and mine?

"My" is a possessive that is always used together with a noun, and is always used like an adjective (i.e. before the noun). "Mine" is a possessive that is never followed by a noun. Grammatically, we also call My and Mine Possessive Adjective and Possessive Pronoun respectively.

What is mine in grammar?

Pronouns: possessive (my, mine, your, yours, etc.) from English Grammar Today. We use pronouns to refer to possession and 'belonging'. There are two types: possessive pronouns and possessive determiners. We use possessive determiners before a noun.

Is mines a possessive pronoun?

Mine is the exception. The other nominative possessive pronouns are yours, his, hers, its, ours, and theirs. The only one that doesn't fit the pattern — by not ending with an s — is mine: The book is yours.
