What is real leather made of?
Real leather (not synthetically made) is made from animal skin, and more commonly cow hide, although goat, buffalo and exotic leathers such as snake and alligator are also available. Cows leather is often described as a byproduct from the meat and dairy industries, making up just 5% of the value of the animal.
Drop a small amount of water on the good, as real leather absorbs moisture. If the good is fake, the water will simply puddle up on top. But real leather will absorb a small drop of water in only a few seconds , telling you quickly if it is genuine. Know that real leather goods are rarely ever cheap.
- Cracks and Peels. In some cases, it may appear the leather is cracking or peeling on the surface. Leather itself does not crack or peel under normal conditions, but an applied finish or colorant upon its surface may. This generally can be fixed with a leather repair kit.
- Italian leather is well known in the fashion industry as the very best. The very best craftsmanship and care goes into manufacturing Italian leather stock than is put into almost any comparable leather product in the world and that means only the best quality hides are used.
- Bonded leather, also called reconstituted leather or blended leather, is a term used for a manufactured upholstery material including animal hide. It is made as a layered structure of a fiber or paper backer, a pulp made from shredded leather and a polyurethane coating which is embossed with a leather-like texture.
Artificial leather. Artificial leather is a material intended to substitute for leather in fields such as upholstery, clothing, footwear and fabrics and other uses where a leather-like finish is desired but the actual material is cost-prohibitive or unsuitable.
- PU (Poly) Synthetic Leather is a man made material that will represent the look and feel of Genuine Leather but in fact is NOT. This PU material is far less durable, considerably cheaper in cost, and may not last long if used often.
- Suede leather is made from the underside of the skin, primarily from lamb, although goat, calf and deer are commonly used. Splits from thick hides of cow and deer are also sueded, but, due to the fiber content, have a shaggy nap.

Sounds like a straightforward question, but not really! Authentic means "genuine" or "original". If an online store claims that its products are authentic then hold them to the fact that their wares are the exact same ones sold in retail locations.
- A replica is an exact reproduction, such as of a painting, as it was executed by the original artist or a copy or reproduction, especially one on a scale smaller than the original. A replica is a copying closely resembling the original concerning its shape and appearance.
- Replica is a copy, it's a recreation of the original using same techniques and materials. Designer replica handbags are copies of the original designer bags. Designer bag replica most likely is a copy handbag or an imitation bag made to look similar to designer handbag.
- On the authentic version, the logo is screen printed, while the replica has it embroidered. The knit of the fabric is different as well, with authentic jerseys boasting “adizero”, while replicas have “climacool”. The adizero knit is thinner and more breathable than the climacool.
