PTFE coatings, or Polytetrafluoroethylene are non-stick fluoropolymer coatings that use a two-coat (primer/topcoat) system. This coating is normally used where a dry lubricant or low friction, or corrosion resistant coating is necessary.
What is PTFE fabric?

What is polytetrafluoroethylene made of?
PTFE is a vinyl polymer, and its structure, if not its behavior, is similar to polyethylene. Polytetrafluoroethylene is made from the monomer tetrafluoroethylene by free radical vinyl polymerization.

PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic Acid) is another chemical that is used in the process of making PTFE. This includes Teflon. So when you see a cookware advertising 'PFOA' free, it usually means the PTFE was made without the use of the chemical PFOA in the manufacturing process.
