What is mutual flux in transformer?
Mutual inductance is where the magnetic flux of two or more inductors are “linked” so that voltage is induced in one coil proportional to the rate-of-change of current in another. A transformer is a device made of two or more inductors, one of which is powered by AC, inducing an AC voltage across the second inductor.
Leakage Transformers are transformers where the magnetic flux of the secondary is loosely coupled to the flux of the primary. This loose coupling ensures that the transformer can withstand short circuit conditions.
- This process occurs in a resonant transformer, an electrical component which consists of high Q coil wound on the same core with capacitors connected across the coils to make a coupled LC circuit. The short-circuit inductance and resonant capacitor of the secondary coil are combined into a resonant circuit.
