What is elastic and plastic deformation?

A temporary shape change that is self-reversing after the force is removed, so that the object returns to its original shape, is called elastic deformation. In other words, elastic deformation is a change in shape of a material at low stress that is recoverable after the stress is removed.

Just so, what is difference between elastic and plastic body?

Key difference: The main difference between a plastic body and an elastic body is based on individual their ability to regain their shape and size after an external force is applied to the bodies. Now, when the force is removed, the material depending on its properties may or may not return to its original shape.

What is the difference between elasticity and plasticity?

Elasticity is defined as the property which enables a material to get back to (or recover) its original shape, after the removal of applied force. For example… Plasticity is defined as the property which enables a material to be deformed continuously and permanently without rupture during the application of force.

What do you mean by plastic deformation?

Definition of plastic deformation. : a permanent deformation or change in shape of a solid body without fracture under the action of a sustained force.
