What is blue Loctite used for?
Blue 242 Thread Locker is designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners to prevent loosening from vibration. It prevents leaks and the rusting of threads. It eliminates the need to stock expensive lock nuts and lock washers.
While our red high strength threadlocker is considered a permanent assembly method, it can be removed if you know the right technique. Removing the red threadlocker involves heating the nut and bolt for a couple of minutes to a temperature of 500°F (250°C), applying localized heat using a blowtorch, for example.
- Assemble parts and tighten as required. Sets in approximately 10 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours.
- Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces. It protects threads from rust and corrosion and prevents loosening from shock and vibration.
- Removal of Elmer's Spray Adhesives can be accomplished using mineral spirits, baby oil or citrus oil based removers, such as Sticky-Out, Goo-Gone, etc. Apply the remover to a clean cloth and place it on the glue for several minutes. This will soften the glue which can then be removed with a clean dry cloth.
