What is a practical ability?

Robert J. Sternberg proposes three intelligences in human cognition. Analytical intelligence is the ability to analyze and evaluate ideas, solve problems and make decisions. Practical intelligence is the ability that individuals use to find the best fit between themselves and the demands of the environment.

Regarding this, what does practical help mean?

Practical refers to a person, idea, project, etc, as being more concerned with or relevant to practice than theory: he is a very practical person; the idea had no practical application.
