What constitutes a "good" time on the 2,000-meter row test varies widely by age, size and fitness level. Tall people generally row faster than shorter people. Anything around 6:00 for a male is world class (the current world record is a sickening 5:35.8 by two-time Olympic silver medalist rower Josh Dunkley-Smith).
Similarly one may ask, how long does it take to row 2000m?
a good freshman/ novice rower should get under 6:30 if they are a clear heavyweight, under 6:45 if a lightweight. 6 minutes is no longer the standard, as the last few years have proven, for heavyweights.
Subsequently, question is, what is a good 2km Erg time?
Basically aim for 7 minutes and you're going fine. If you want to get up to race standards, you need to be aiming sub 7 minutes espescially in higher classes, and higher levels like GB level. My 2k is coming down to about 6:50, split of about 1:40+ ish.
What is a good time for 5000m row?

How can I improve my 1k ERG time?
Re: Improving 1k Time in One Week
on pacing, get to a 1:38 and hold it there for first 500. then drop to 1:36 by taking the spm up 2 or 3 spm. make very sure you are using your legs THEN the back, most of your power comes from the legs. good luck!
