Fruits and fruit juices high in acid
- lemon juice (pH: 2.00–2.35)
- limes (pH: 2.00–2.80)
- blue plums (pH: 2.80–3.40)
- grapes (pH: 2.90–3.82)
- pomegranates (pH: 2.93–3.20)
- grapefruits (pH: 3.00–3.75)
- blueberries (pH: 3.12–3.33)
- pineapples (pH: 3.20–4.00)
Are Blackberries acidic?
Berries, which belong to the fruit group, are often found to be non-acidic and have an alkaline pH level. Strawberries, blackberries, black currants, raspberries and red currants are all non-acidic berries. Exceptions are cranberries and blueberries, a couple of the few types of berries classified as acidic.
Watermelon has an extremely high alkaline score, meaning it is ideal for maintaining your body's alkalinity. Lemons are notoriously acidic, but also contain electrolytic properties and a high pH score, meaning they are actually one of the top alkaline foods on this list!
Acid-forming foods include most high-protein foods, such as meat, fish, eggs, and most legumes (beans and peas, except lentils, which are alkaline-forming). Sugar, coffee, alcohol, and most grains are also acid-forming.
Although apples are generally safe to eat, certain types of apples may trigger symptoms in people with acid reflux. Red apples generally don't cause an increase in symptoms. Green apples are more acidic, which can have a negative impact for some.
Yogurt, which is made by curdling cow's milk with purified cultures of beneficial bacteria, is inherently more acidic than milk. This is because the bacteria convert milk sugar, or lactose, into lactic acid, which ultimately increases the acidity of the final product. The average pH value for yogurt is about 4.4.
It's the fermented or raw ACV that is so good for you so be sure to buy the right one. Raw ACV is the only vinegar that is alkaline-forming to the body. All other vinegars (white, balsamic, red wine, etc) are acid-forming. For a health balanced pH, raw apple cider vinegar is one of the best things to add to your diet.
Acidity is determined by the pH scale. Neutral is around 7 and anything under a pH of 4 is considered very acidic. Home-brewed teas aren't as acidic as fruit juices and other drinks. The average person probably doesn't drink enough acidic tea to damage their teeth.
Grapes are on the list of foods to watch because aparently the level of acidity is dependant on where the grapes are grown. For instance grapes grown in warmer climates tend to have lower acidity than grapes grown in cooler climates. Similarly the sugar content is the opposite.
According to the National Honey Board, the acidity of honey ranges from a pH of about 3.4 to about 6.1, with an average of 3.9. The aromatic acids greatly contribute to the flavor of honey. Acidity is measured on a scale of 1-14 called the pH scale. One is very acidic, 7 is neutral, and 14 is very basic.
Alkaline-Forming Foods. Most fruits and just about all vegetables are alkaline-forming. A few exceptions are cranberries and blueberries, which are somewhat acid-forming. Ironically, acidic fruits such as lemons and limes are actually alkaline-forming once metabolized.
While nearly all vegetables have slightly acidic pH values, most are alkaline-forming in the body. According to “The Acid Alkaline Food Guide,” potatoes are moderately alkaline-forming in the body. Baked potatoes, including the skins, are the most alkalizing, followed by mashed potatoes prepared with milk and butter.
Are bananas acidic or alkaline? Unripe bananas are acidic as they have a pH of around 5.6. However, ripe bananas have a pH of around 6.5, which is much less acidic. People who suffer from acid reflux are often advised to eat bananas.
Go alkaline for 30 days to help your body refresh and recharge for the year ahead.

Oatmeal. Oatmeal is a breakfast favorite, a whole grain, and an excellent source of fiber. Oatmeal can absorb acid in the stomach and reduce symptoms of reflux.
Your diet can have a big impact on your acid reflux symptoms. Peanut butter generally isn't considered to trigger acid reflux, but it may affect some people differently. Although peanut butter has several health benefits, it's also a high-fat food. These foods can increase acid reflux symptoms.
Green Tea Is Alkaline. Luckily, green tea is alkaline in nature because it has a pH greater than 7.2. Hence, the alkalinity helps in neutralizing the disturbed acid levels in your body. The alkalinity of green tea enables the easier digestion as compared to coffee or tea.

Cooked white rice has a pH ranging from 6.0 to 6.7, which makes it slightly acidic; cooked brown rice has a pH of 6.2 to 6.7, or a range equivalent to or slightly less acidic than white rice; and cooked wild rice has a pH of 6.0 to 6.4, which makes it more acidic than either brown or white rice, according to the Food
Yogurts with probiotics can be a good option even if you have lactose intolerance from other dairy foods. Inability to digest the lactose found in dairy can cause gas and belches that bring up acid, mimicking GERD. But yogurt, frozen or not, is soothing for your stomach.
