What does F prime of a mean?
Often the most confusing thing for a student introduced to differentiation is the notation associated with it. One type of notation for derivatives is sometimes called prime notation. The function f ´( x ), which would be read `` f -prime of x '', means the derivative of f ( x ) with respect to x .
A transformation is a change in the position, size, or shape of a geometric figure. The given figure is called the preimage (original) and the resulting figure is called the new image. A transformation maps a figure onto its image. Prime notation is sometimes used to identify image points.
