Do refrigerator water filters work well?

Well, it's actually quite simple. Refrigerator water filters clear contaminants in the water by forcing the water through activated carbon located inside the filters. Water that passes through old, overused filters can even dislodge some of the trapped pollutants back into your drinking water. Yuck!

What does a water filter remove?

The vast majority of filters used by consumers once water reaches our homes are made of activated carbon. As a result, a faucet-mounted filter from PUR will remove chlorine; pharmaceuticals and chemicals; heavy metals such as lead and mercury; and other organic compounds that can give water an unwelcome taste and odor.
