What do we measure cloud cover in?

In meteorology, an okta is a unit of measurement used to describe the amount of cloud cover at any given location such as a weather station. Sky conditions are estimated in terms of how many eighths of the sky are covered in cloud, ranging from 0 oktas (completely clear sky) through to 8 oktas (completely overcast).

So, what instruments are used in meteorology?

What types of equipment would a meteorologist use to measure weather?

A RAIN GAUGE measures the amount of rain that has fallen over a specific time period. A WIND VANE is an instrument that determines the direction from which the wind is blowing. An ANEMOMETER measures wind speed.
