There are four main types of quantitative research designs: descriptive, correlational, quasi-experimental and experimental. A Quasi-Experimental Design (often referred to as Causal-Comparative) seeks to establish a cause-effect relationship between two or more variables.

What is the descriptive research design?

Descriptive research is a study designed to depict the participants in an accurate way. The three main ways to collect this information are: Observational, defined as a method of viewing and recording the participants. Case study, defined as an in-depth study of an individual or group of individuals.

What is a descriptive correlational study design?

Descriptive, correlational, and experimental research designs are used to collect and analyze data. Descriptive designs include case studies, surveys, and naturalistic observation. The goal of these designs is to get a picture of the current thoughts, feelings, or behaviors in a given group of people.
