What are the effects of aspirin on the body?

Aspirin is known as a salicylate and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking a certain natural substance in your body to reduce pain and swelling. Your doctor may direct you to take a low dose of aspirin to prevent blood clots. This effect reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

How long does it take for the effects of aspirin to wear off?

It takes a full 10 days for aspirin's effects to wear off after a person stops taking it. In contrast, other anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naprosyn stop thromboxane production for only a few hours at a time and have far less potent effects on platelet stickiness than aspirin does.
