What are the characteristic properties of matter?

The characteristic properties of a substance are always the same whether the sample being observed is large or small. Examples of characteristic properties include freezing/melting point, boiling/condensing point, density, viscosity and solubility.

What are the three characteristics of matter?

Anything that has Mass (Volume) and takes up space. a Substance that contains only ONE type of atom. The smallest particle of an element that still has the properties of that element. Change in size, shape, color, or state (solid, liquid, or gas) but maintains its same chemical characteristics.
