Is viscose knit or woven?

It's not the fiber content that distinguishes them, it's the manufacturing process. Yarns like cotton, viscose, rayon, wool, polyester, velvet or silk can either be knitted or woven. Knitted fabrics are produced on huge knitting machines that “knit” different yarns together.

Consequently, what is the difference between knit or woven?

In knit fabric (left), one continuous yarn is looped repeatedly to create what looks like tiny rows of braids. In woven fabric (right), multiple yarns cross each other at right angles to form the grain, like a basket. When knit fabric is stretched along its width, it will stretch significantly.

What is a woven fabric?

Woven fabric only stretches diagonally on the bias directions (between the warp and weft directions), unless the threads used are elastic. Woven fabric cloth usually frays at the edges, unless techniques are used to counter it, such as the use of pinking shears or hemming.

Is denim woven?

Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck.
