Is the phrase have been a verb?

This sentence actually has three helping verbs: 'will,' 'have,' and 'been.' All three helping verbs help express that this talking has been going on and is still going on. It is a type of future tense, since the action will continue into the future. Thus, the entire verb phrase is 'will have been talking.'

Can a verb phrase be one word?

Since a verb phrase might use up to four words, a short adverb—such as also, never, or not—might try to sneak in between the parts. When you find an adverb snuggled in a verb phrase, it is still an adverb, not part of the verb. Read these examples: For her birthday, Selena would also like a radar detector.
