Is steel a pure substance or a mixture?

Steel is not a pure substance. It is a mixture of the elements carbon and iron, or an alloy if you must. If steel was on the Periodic Table of Elements, yes, it would be a pure substance. Steel consists of 2 or more elements combined so therefore, it is not pure.
