Is penicillin and amoxicillin the same thing?

Amoxicillin and penicillin are two of many antibiotics on the market today. They're actually in the same family of antibiotics, called the penicillin family. As antibiotics, both can be used to treat infections caused by bacteria. They work by stopping the bacteria from multiplying.

Can you drink alcohol while taking amoxicillin?

There is a common myth that alcohol mixed with antibiotics, such as Amoxicillin, causes interactions. This is not the case. While medical professionals will advise an individual taking an antibiotic to avoid alcohol it does not cause any interactions or pose a risk to the individuals health.
