Is it bad to have oil heating?

This scenario has been fueling the myth that gas is good, and oil is bad, for decades. Both new gas and new oil furnaces have high efficiencies. However, heating oil burns hotter than natural gas. This means it will not only heat the space in half the time but it will burn less fuel while doing so.

Is oil heat safe?

Oil heat is safe! Home heating oil can only be ignited by an advanced burning system in your oil-burner or furnace. Unlike natural gas, fuel oil is not explosive and inhalation of fuel oil fumes is not fatal. The possibility of carbon monoxide entering the home from an oil burner is very low.
