Is it 28 days from the day your period starts or ends?

day 1 is the first day your period begins and then the days up to your next period is known as your cycle length. Ex. Feb 23 is day 1 then you start again March 26 your cycle length is 28 days.

Keeping this in view, do you count spotting as the first day of your period?

Your period or 'menstrual period' starts when vaginal bleeding is observed, on average every 28 days and lasting on average 3-5 days. Spotting does not count as a menstrual period. Your period bleeding begins when you see real blood, not just spotting.
