Is dizziness life threatening?

Rarely life-threatening. There are very few life-threatening causes of vertigo or dizziness if balance symptoms are the only symptoms. Although some patients with vertigo are concerned initially that they may be having a stroke or a brain tumor, that's rarely the case without other neurological symptoms.

Why do I feel light headed and dizzy?

Common causes of dizziness include a migraine, medications, and alcohol. It can also be caused by a problem in the inner ear, where balance is regulated. Dizziness is often a result of vertigo as well. The most common cause of vertigo and vertigo-related dizziness is benign positional vertigo (BPV).
