Is baby powder bad for you?

It's been ground up and bottled. Baby powder was traditionally talcum powder, although due to health concerns, what's sold as baby powder is now often made of cornstarch. Breathing talc is bad for you, especially because it can naturally contain asbestos fibers.

Soothe Dry Skin. Baby powder can work much like a moisturizer to help soothe extra dry skin. While it does remove moisture, baby powder on its own is great for helping your skin to feel smoother and less irritated.

Why is baby powder bad for you?

The American Academy of Pediatrics points out that baby powder can cause breathing trouble and serious lung damage for babies if they inhale the particles. (And it's hard to keep powder out of the air when you're using it.) This is especially true of talc-based powders, with their small, easily inhaled particles.
