How were the Puritans and pilgrims alike and different?

Puritans and Piligrims are alike because they both fled to the Americas away from the Church of England. The Puritans actually persecuted the Quakers and believed they were heretics. Pilgrims vs Quakers. Pilgrims and Quakers are alike because both are very religous and both developed about the same time.

SEPARATISTS, PURITAN. The Separatists, or Independents, were radical Puritans who, in the late sixteenth century, advocated a thorough reform within the Church of England. Dissatisfied with the slow pace of official reform, they set up churches outside the established order.

Why did the Separatists and Puritans leave England for North America?

The Pilgrims and Puritans came to America to practice religious freedom. In the 1500s England broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and created a new church called the Church of England. There was a group of people called Separatists that wanted to separate from the Church of England.
