How much does it cost to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10?
Since its official release a year ago, Windows 10 has been a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8.1 users. When that freebie ends today, you technically will be forced to shell out $119 for the regular edition of Windows 10 and $199 for the Pro flavor if you want to upgrade.
Furthermore, can you upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10?
Make sure you are running the latest version either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update. Although Microsoft may not offer a direct upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 Pro, it is possible for users with older versions of Windows (XP, Vista, and 7) to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro.
From a Windows 7 or 8.1 device, go to the webpage entitled "Windows 10 free upgrade for customers who use assistive technologies." Click on the Upgrade now button. Run the executable file to install the upgrade. So the upgrade could be accessible to any Windows 7 or 8.1 user who still wants to get Windows 10 for free.
It would make no sense, Windows 7 is still by far the most popular and widely used operating system in the world. Yes, Windows 7 support will end and Microsoft will cut off all support but not until January 14th 2020. You should upgrade after this date, but it remains a long way away in computer years.
Install the update manually
- Make sure your PC is plugged in and connected to the Internet using a non-metered connection.
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

You can find OEM System Builder software from dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional at Newegg, for example, is $140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon was offering OEM Windows 7 Professional packages from multiple sellers at prices ranging from $101 to $150.
If you've got an outdated version of Windows (anything older than 7) or build your own PCs, Microsoft's latest release will cost $119. That's for Windows 10 Home, and the Pro tier will be priced higher at $199.
You can check which edition you're using by right-clicking the Start button, clicking System, and finding the Windows Edition. Once the free upgrade period ends, Windows 10 Home will cost $119, while Pro will run you $199. Home users can pay $99 to jump up to Pro (check our licensing FAQ for more info).

Cost Factors. Replacing a window costs an average of $300 to $700 per window. This assumes that the replacement window is going into an existing and structurally sound frame on a ground floor. Replacing windows in a typical three-bedroom, single-story home with ten windows can cost from $3,000 to $7,000.

It is very clear from this post that for the first year it's available, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you have Windows 7 or 8. You will not pay for it. After that year is up, nothing will happen to your Windows 10 license. If you do not upgrade within that year, however, you will have to pay for an upgrade.
Upgrading to Windows 10 for free. If you want to make use of Microsoft's Windows 10 assistive technologies you need to make sure you're running an eligible version of Windows. The upgrade only applies to those running Windows 7 Home or Home Premium with Service Pack 1 or higher installed and Windows 8.1.
Upgrade option only works by Microsoft Windows 8 upgrade plan. Please confirm your current Microsoft Windows 7 version. If you are not sure, you can click “Start → Control → Panel → System” to see your current Microsoft Windows system. Insert the Windows 8 Installation Disc* in your DVD or BD reading device.
There is no free upgrade path to Windows 10 from XP or Vista. To upgrade to Windows 10 from a machine running XP or Vista, you either have to buy an actual copy of Windows 10 (in which case, you might as well just keep the old boxes sitting in their bins in the garage) or first upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Get the Windows 10 April 2018 Update
