How many risers can you have before a landing?

Each flight must have no more than 18 or less than 2 risers. A flight of stairs is defined as a constant series of risers including winders that is not interrupted by a landing.

Also question is, what is the minimum height of a stair riser?

All steps on a flight of stairs shall have uniform riser heights and uniform tread depth. Risers shall be 4 inches (100 mm) high minimum and 7 inches (180 mm) maximum. Treads shall be 11 inches (280 mm) deep minimum, measured from riser to riser.

What is the maximum riser height for stairs?

The maximum riser height shall be 73/4 inches (196 mm). The riser shall be measured vertically between leading edges of the adjacent treads. The greatest riser height within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch (9.5 mm). R311.7.4.2 Tread depth.

How tall should steps be on a deck?

So, if your steps are 10 inches deep, 8 inches high is the optimum riser height. For oversized steps, the depth should be increased, with the height of each step being reduced. If the tread is 12 inches deep, the riser should be close to 6 inches. The minimum height for any step should be at least 4 inches.
