Shelf-Life: Dehydrated Onions will store for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Method 2 Oven Drying
  1. Preheat the oven to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (71 degrees Celsius). Prepare two or more baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the onions into thin slices.
  3. Spread the onions out onto the baking sheets.
  4. Dry the onion in the preheated oven.
  5. Crumble when done.
  6. Store in a cool, dry place.

How do you use dehydrated onions?

Dehydrated onions have a longer shelf life than fresh onions.
  1. Soak 1/3 cup of dehydrated onions in the water for 10 to 15 minutes or until tender and the onions have absorbed most of the water.
  2. Drain any remaining water.
  3. Add the reconstituted onions to any recipe to replace 1 cup of chopped fresh onions.

How long does it take to dry onions?

Onions should be cured for at least two to three weeks or until the tops necks are completely dry and the outer skin on the onion becomes slightly crisp. Cut tops off to within one inch after drying is complete.
