How does NASA define something that is alive?

NASA defined life broadly as "A self-sustaining chemical system capable of Darwinian evolution." While this definition is open enough to include a wide range of potential life forms, it also makes it hard to design a simple test for life. For example, it would be unlikely to observe Darwinian evolution taking place.

What is the meaning of 42?

The number 42 is, in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything", calculated by an enormous supercomputer named Deep Thought over a period of 7.5 million years. Unfortunately, no one knows what the question is.
