How do you stop a hernia?

Prevention
  1. Warm up properly before athletic activity and exercise.
  2. Strengthen abdominal muscles with strength exercises.
  3. Rest properly after vigorous exercise, particularly lifting.
  4. Quit smoking if possible, as coughing can contribute to hernia development.
  5. Eat a high fiber diet to avoid constipation.
  6. Maintain a healthy weight.
