How big should art be?

In general, art should take up 57% - 75% of any wall that isn't covered by furniture or moldings. If your artwork will be hung over a sofa or credenza, it should be 2/3 to 3/4 the width of your furniture. If you are hanging a piece over a standard, 76" wide king size bed, it should be between 45" - 76" wide.

Also, what are standard canvas sizes?

How high should art be above furniture?

Hang art over a sofa or headboard so that the bottom of the frame is 8 to 10 inches above the furniture piece; the art should be visually connected to it, not floating high above it. If you're hanging a smaller work over a large unit, try adding sconces or other art to fill out the composition.

How do you measure the size of a painting?

For a framed artwork, use this format: Height x Width x Depth. If your work is not framed, our experts need to know the size of the Canvas. If your work is framed, our experts need two measurements for your painting: Sight and Frame. Sight: The area of the artwork that is visible inside the mat or frame.
