Can you put olive oil on your body?

Over the last decade, everyone has been harping on the beauty benefits of olive oil, but the truth is this kitchen staple has been used on the body since ancient times (thank you, Cleopatra). Naturally, olive oil is packed with anti-aging antioxidants and hydrating squalene, making it superb for hair, skin, and nails.

Similarly, you may ask, can you put olive oil on your face?

Unlike commercial moisturizers that can clog pores and exacerbate current skin conditions, olive oil penetrates deeply into the skin while providing a cleansing effect. Try using organic olive oil at night as a substitute for your regular moisturizer. Apply a teaspoon of the oil to the face and neck.

Is it harmful to cook with olive oil?

The more free fatty acids there are in an oil, the lower its smoke point. Many sources put the smoke point of extra virgin olive oil somewhere around 375-420°F (190-215°C). Refined olive oil is often placed around 468°F (242°C). This makes it a safe choice for most cooking methods, including most pan frying.
