Can you have a fire in the rain?

On a bone-dry day or when there's plenty of dry paper or fire-starter, anyone can make a fire. If the weather deteriorates to a persistent rain, they might get smoke. Here's how you can make a fire when the woods are wet with rain. This method isn't fast, but it works with any kind of wood — even damp wood.

Herein, how do you keep a fire alive?

Put some tinder in the center of your fire pit. Remember, tinder are the small sticks, twigs, and leaves you're going to use to get your fire burning, so the easier it burns, the better. Stack your kindling on top of the tinder in a "teepee" structure. Make sure to leave an opening on the side you're going to light.

How do I build a bonfire?

Here's how to build the bonfire:
  1. Make a circle with bricks or stones.
  2. Stand the tinder in a teepee shape in the center of the circle.
  3. Make a teepee out of kindling around the tinder, leaving some gaps for oxygen to escape.
  4. Put some fuel logs parallel to each other on two sides of the teepee.

How do I get more heat from my fireplace?

  1. Burn seasoned firewood.
  2. Open the damper as wide as possible to increase the amount of air to the fire.
  3. Clean your chimney once a year.
  4. Replace the screen in front of the fireplace with tempered glass doors, and keep the doors closed while a fire is burning.
  5. Install a fireplace insert.
