Can I apply UK and Schengen visa at the same time?

Once you get your schengen visa then apply for uk. One week each for both should be enough and comfortable time. If you indeed obtain both visas then there is no need to visit London via Paris as the same rules do not apply to a UK visa as a Schengen visa.
