Can chlamydia be cured completely?

Yes, chlamydia can be cured with the right treatment. It is important that you take all of the medication your doctor prescribes to cure your infection. When taken properly it will stop the infection and could decrease your chances of having complications later on. Repeat infection with chlamydia is common.

In this regard, is Chlamydia very serious?

If left undiagnosed and untreated, chlamydia can result in serious health complications. About 10-15% of women with untreated chlamydia get PID, which can cause permanent damage…anything from chronic pelvic pain to infertility and even potentially fatal ectopic pregnancy (i.e., pregnancy outside the uterus).

Is chlamydia bad for you?

Bad idea — chlamydia can have serious complications if left untreated, especially for women. Each year, about one million women develop pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), an infection of the internal reproductive organs. Studies estimate that about half these PID cases are caused by untreated chlamydia infections.
