Most places accept Euro bills, but don't fret when you get Francs in return. Major credit and debit cards are widely accepted, make sure that you can pay abroad with them before leaving (own experience!). You can also get Swiss Francs from the ATM and choose to be billed in euros for a reasonable fee.
What is the currency used in Zurich?
Currency. Please note that Switzerland remains with the Swiss franc, usually indicated as CHF. While Switzerland is not part of the European Union and thus is not obliged to convert to the Euro, many prices are nonetheless indicated in euros so that visitors may compare prices.
Why doesn t Switzerland have the euro?
Switzerland uses its own currency because it never joined the EU and therefore never had to relinquish its national currency and replace it with the Euro. On several occasions, the Swiss people voted against joining the EU and Switzerland is therefore not a member of that economic based organization.
